AIG has launched a new International Private Medical Insurance (IPMI) product, called Expatriate Care, for companies with five employees or more, with previous medical history disregarded.

The new product has been launched in partnership with Henner, a medical plan administrator with a network of 35,000 medical providers in 160 countries.

Policyholders will be able to add providers if they have a unique location request.

As part of Expatriate Care policyholder will have access to Medical Second Opinion for an additional consultation with an international specialist, after their initial diagnosis from a local doctor.

As part of the policy policyholders will also have access to MyHealthPortal, a virtual clinic with British medical support staff, available via webcam, phone and SMS.

The portal also includes health advice and information about surgery for those about to undergo it or rehabilitating from it.

Ian Robinson, UK head of personal accident at AIG said: "The number of expatriates worldwide is soaring.

"In 2014 the number reached more than 50 million, according to reserachandmarkets.com and by 2020 this will rise to 60 million.

"A minority of these people are covered by domestic health insurance but around one third of all expatriates have no international health insurance."
