British Friendly has announced its claims stats for 2012, its second year of intermediary trading.

The income protection (IP) provider reported 97% of claims across all products were paid, 3,000 new applications from intermediaries were written and 500 new advisers were registered.

Emma Thomson, head of life office relations for protection intermediary LifeSearch, said: "British Friendly has an excellent proposition, offering both long and short term cover on an own occupation basis for all clients, with an efficient underwriting process.!"

She added sometimes IP was seen to be too expensive and difficult to underwrite, but that did not have to be the case.

Mark Myers, CEO for British Friendly, said: "We have a lot fo experience in supporting return to work and place value on intermediaries in that."
