PruProtect has taken action to drive a stronger integration of protection in wealth management adviser businesses.

The provider has brought in a newly-created role of head of wealth protection to spearhead the RDR protection push.

PruProtect now has a team of 20 business consultants all recruited specifically from wealth and investment backgrounds to develop the provider's relationship with wealth management
intermediaries.

Justin Taurog, distribution & marketing director, said: "Many advisers are reassessing their holistic offerings as part of their business review in light of the RDR. Protection is a fundamental part of any financial planning toolkit."

Kevin Watkins, soon-to-be head of wealth protection, said he was optimistic about the opportunity RDR had presented.
