UK health needs attention - Saga

There is much to be done to improve health in the UK, Saga Services has said.

A Saga Health study showed52% of the nation's over 50s were overweight, and one in ten felt very overweight.

One in five said weight was the biggest physical concern, yet one in three did no exercise at all.

Roger Ramsden, chief executive of Saga Services, said: "Clearly there is still more to be done to improve healthy lifestyles across the UK, while the over 50s tend to get it right with healthy eating, what they appear to need is something to motivate them to exercise."

Those who exercised did so once or twice a week for less than 30 minutes. The most popular form of exercise in the UK was walking.
