LV= overhauls IP and CI products

LV has overhauled its income protection (IP) and critical illness (CI) offerings, including extending coverage on both to age 70.

A complete breakdown of the IP amendments can be seen in the product review pages of COVER's March issue.

The provider increased the amount of salary that can be covered on its IP product to 55%, removed the suited occupation definition to define more roles as own occupation and added a £1,000 benefit guarantee.

These, it said, came from adviser feedback and mean almost 80% of professions covered are on an own occupation basis.

Guaranteed premiums for its CI plan can be now extended to a maximum term of 40 years, while the number of children's illnesses covered has been increased to equal those covered on the adult version.

Mark Jones, head of protection at LV=, said the provider believed these enhancements strengthened its income protection and critical illness proposition and would benefit consumers and advisers.
