Medicals Direct is now providing underwriting facilities to enable insurers a more cost-effective access to the enhanced annuity market.

The healthcare and risk management services provider says it helps entry into this specialist market on a pilot or full-launch basis, without placing pressure on providers' internal staff.

Medicals Direct underwriters are able to use both their clients' own systems, and collect the required medical evidence directly.

It's initial clients include Aviva and LV=.

Nick Rice, head of underwriting and claims at Medicals Direct, said: "We have noticed a great deal of interest from providers who prefer to ‘self select' from our range of services - it's a flexible and cost-effective way to manage product development."
