Fit for Work service completes rollout in Wales

The Fit for Work (FfW) service has fully rolled-out across Wales and is also active in much of England.

The service offers occupational health support in the form of return to work plans for staff who have been, or are expected to be, off work for at least four weeks.

It has gone live across most of Yorkshire, Greater Manchester, the East Midlands, Birmingham and the Black Country and some of the South East.

And according to BBC Wales the service is now live across the whole of the principality.

Employers are expected to be able to begin refering employees who have been off for four weeks (with their consent) in the autumn. At present only GPs can refer patients to the FfW.

Speaking in March, FfW provider Health Management said it wanted to work alongside employer's in-house occupational health services where they were available.

However, earlier this month the manufacturers' association called for greater employer involvement in the service, including compulsory involvement in return to work plans.
