Bupa adds partial payment and more conditions to CI plan

clock • 1 min read

Bupa is offering a partial payment to those waiting for an NHS operation and is adding more conditions to its critical illness (CI) cover.

The provider will pay 25% of a claimant's benefit or £25,000 (whichever is lower) directly into their bank account if they are awaiting aorta graft surgery, coronary artery by-pass grafts, heart valve replacement or repair or open heart surgery.

It claims to be the only insurer on the market to offer this option.

The additional conditions include severe Crohn's disease and benign spinal cord tumour.

Its policies cover 23 standard conditions recommended by the ABI, with 11 meeting ABI+ levels.

Commenting on the changes, Steve Payne, director of Bupa Health Assurance said: "Having listened to intermediary feedback, we are confident that these enhancements, combined with our Healthline and Best Doctors service will offer a real point of difference for brokers."
