Medicare International launches new excess structure

clock • 1 min read

MediCare International has announced a new voluntary excess on its international private medical insurance (IPMI) offering up to 50% discount on premiums.

Clients can choose one of four policy excess levels giving 10%, 20%, 35% or 50% discount on the policy combination chosen.

The provider has also added a multi-currency feature to its online quote and buy package. Prospective clients can now receive an online quote in sterling, US dollars or euros and take out a policy in their chosen currency immediately.

Medicare International expects the multi-currency feature will open new markets overseas.

Commenting on the launches, David Pryor, senior executive director said: "We have been looking now for some time at ways to reduce the cost of care for clients, whether insured on an individual or group basis.

"Client feedback told us for some the option to co-insure and accept a proportion of the costs in the event of a claim could be a very attractive feature."
