Cycling success boosts Ride2Work scheme by 150%

Evans Cycles has reported a 150% increase in applications for its Ride2Work bike scheme in the three weeks since the end of the Tour de France.

The figures for employees applying to join the retailer's cycle to work scheme showed a massive increase over the same period last year.

The retailer is putting the surge down to the success of British cyclists in the Tour de France and Olympic Games.

It's results echo those of other Cycle to Work scheme providers who have also credited the nation's sporting success with the boom.

Evans Cycles head of Ride2Work Mark Brown said: "The past few weeks have seen a unique situation.

"Fantastic sporting achievements, with a particular emphasis on cycling have combined with a big improvement in the weather. As a result many more people want to get on two wheels and give cycling a try.

"In addition employers are becoming more enthusiastic in their support for cycling to work so it has been a real boost which benefits everyone."
