Pharmaceutical & General Provident Society has revealed it paid 98% of its income protection claims last year.

The friendly society has become the latest to release its claims data for the last year and joined with other providers and hoped the data would encourage those without cover to look into it.

Paul Brierley, chief executive of Pharmaceutical & General, said: "As a member-focused friendly society, we are proud to have paid 98.46% of all the claims received in total last year - and obviously 100% of valid claims."

"It is hoped that publication of these figures will act as a reassurance to existing members and will encourage people who don't have IP to consider doing so."

Pharmaceutical & General was founded in 1928 and specialises in offering IP to healthcare professionals.
