Ellipse makes first donations from charity initiative

Group risk insurer Ellipse has made its first round of donations raised from its charity initiative ‘You quote, we donate'.

Every time an adviser obtains an online quote they can drop £1 from Ellipse into a virtual collecting tin to whichever of the three charities they would like to receive the donation.

Rueben's Retreat received £150, the Motor Neurone Disease Association £150 and the Queen Elizabeth Foundation for Disabled People, £100.

Sue Pressey, corporate and community fundraising manager for Queen Elizabeth's Foundation for Disabled People said: "A huge thank you to the team at Ellipse for raising this contribution. It will be used to provide crucial equipment used in our Neuro Rehabilitation Services to help people affected by brain injuries as part of their journey towards recovery".

Three charities, selected by Ellipse employees from adviser's nominations, have been chosen for the first quarter of 2015. Cotswold Care Hospice, Depression Alliance and Huntington's Disease Association have been selected.

• Cotswold Care Hospice offers services free of charge to people in Gloucestershire who have been diagnosed with a life limiting illness. This charity was nominated by Sharon Brown of IFS as her mother stayed there after her treatment for leukaemia last year.

• Depression Alliance brings people together to end the loneliness and isolation of depression. They also campaign to end the stigma of depression and to raise awareness of what it means to live with it. Iain Fox from Fidelius nominated this charity.

• Huntington's Disease Association was put forward by Jo Kulcyzki from Mackenzie Taylor. Her father and brother have both been diagnosed with the disease. The charity helps fund research to find a cure for the disease and also provides assistance for those with Huntington's and for the families of those diagnosed.

John Ritchie, CEO of Ellipse said: "I am delighted with the level of engagement we have seen from advisers. It is great to raise money for the charities involved, each of which have given help to the friends or family of the advisers who nominated them. Our online quote numbers are increasing steadily so we look forward to donating to the charities nominated for the first quarter of 2015".
