Foresters friendly society is redesigning its products for a resurgence in the adviser market and a return to the society's original goals in light of Government austerity.
The society, which withdrew its Sickness Plan last month is redesigning the product for a reintroduction in the autumn. It also said it has experienced an upsurge in adviser numbers looking to increase protection sales.
Neil Armitage, marketing director at foresters, said: "We are looking to align our products in line with the Government's austerity. Half the country's budget goes on health and welfare so cutbacks affect these departments most significantly.
"These are beginning to impact on middle England and so we are looking at our history, our mutuality, and returning to our original business of health and welfare provision."
Last week the society offered members free access to a 24 hour GP service.
On adviser sales, he added: "Quite a lot of IFAs are still not RDR compliant and this is leading to a resurgence of protection sales.
"We are seeing an increase in our distribution channel and have had a lot of discussions with IFAs more than interested in focussing on protection."
