Intermediaries believe a generic advertising campaign would be the best way to highlight the need for protection.

A total of 37% of the audience at the COVER Protection Forum participating in the interactive voting thought this would help raise the profile of the sector.

The Association of British Insurers topped the vote at 48% of bodies that IFAs believe should run such a campaign.

Another 25% thought a group of product providers should come together and launch a campaign.

Interactive voting was used throughout the day to gauge the opinions of the audience.

The interactive voting highlighted another interesting point: over half the audience (54%) thought modules on financial production should feature in the new school citizenship curriculum. However, 25% thought it was a nice idea that would not happen.
