Sue Lewis has been re-appointed for a further two and a half years as chair of the Financial Services Consumer Panel
Lewis was initially appointed to the FSCP in 2013 after roles including the Consumer Advocate Member on the Chartered Insurance Institute's Professional Standards Board, trustee of the Personal Finance Education Group and a trustee of debt advice charity Stepchange.
John Griffith-Jones, chairman of the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) said: "I am pleased to be able to re-appoint Sue as Consumer Panel Chair. Her passion for consumer issues and hard work over the past three years meant she was the natural choice to continue in the role".
The Financial Services Consumer Panel, an independent statutory body set up by the FCA in accordance with the Financial Services Act 2012, represents the interests of consumers when deciding on regulation policies for the financial service industry.
Panel members, recruited through a process of open competition, come from a variety of backgrounds and demonstrate a broad range of relevant knowledge and experience.
Lewis said: "The need for a strong, independent, consumer voice has never been greater. I am pleased to have the opportunity to carry on leading the Panel's work. Andrew Bailey faces a tough task maintaining the FCA's consumer focus in light of the turmoil caused by the outcome of the EU referendum. Those who appear to have forgotten the financial crisis will put him under a lot of pressure to make regulation more ‘industry friendly'."
"We will do all we can to support Andrew and his colleagues to make financial services markets work well for individual and small business consumers."
