Aetna International to launch adviser resource in 2013 drive for growth

Aetna International is building an online international private medical insurance (IPMI) resource, allowing advisers to check PMI regulations and business hurdles on a global basis.

Nic Brown, European sales and marketing director at Aetna International, explained: "Too many advisers are being told international PMI is easy, then when they begin selling it they run into problems.

"What we are building is an online view of the world and its dos and donts in terms of PMI. Advisers will find the site a helpful guide to what is possible in this sector as they will be able to see local conditions in countries they are writing business for."

The site, due to launch early in the New Year, will act a generic resource for the entire market.

"There is a huge amount of intellectual property involved here, including health information," said Brown. "Our best advice stands up against anyone's."

"Once it is up and running feedback from the broker community will allow us to develop tools for the greater good. Updates will be regularly highlighted in email alerts."

The site constitutes part of an effort in raising the insurers profile in a plan to more than double market share next year. Over the next few months Aetna will also be releasing an interactive online claims guide for new members.

David Healy European general manager, commented: "Our long term goal in this market is loyalty. This should in fact be a business with amazing loyalty, the last thing clients need is to contact all scheme members with an entirely new set of conditions every year or so."
