Protection broker LifeSearch held its first set of awards for protection providers last month at the Hiscox Arts Café in London. Voted for by LifeSearch's team of advisers, winners included Legal & General, which picked up three awards for best service, best e-commerce and best overall provider.

Scottish Provident won best critical illness provider; Liverpool Victoria won best income protection provider; Bright Grey picked up an award for best new initiative and Norwich Union was voted best press office.

Managing director of LifeSearch, Tom Baigrie, said: "LifeSearch wanted to recognise the hard work, in often difficult circumstances, carried out by life companies. Legal & General were worthy winners in three categories."
