Norwich Union Healthcare (NUH) has enhanced its SafeGuard individual income protection (IP) product so that periods of absence due to the same cause are now linked, where the deferred period is 13 weeks or more. The aim of the change is to ensure customers are not disadvantaged if they attempt to return to work. The insurer believes this benefit is unique to the individual IP market. It has also changed its terms so policyholders do not have to give notification of change of occupation. NUH has also launched a generic consumer guide for IP to help educate consumers and be used by IFAs when talking to clients. The guide can be downloaded as a PDF at www.healthcarezone.co.uk
