Swiss Life has launched an online service for group life, group income protection and group critical illness policies, writes Paul Robertson.
The service, which is the first part of an umbrella initiative called Swiss Life Online Services, offers intermediaries online requotes and a facility for putting any satisfactory quote on risk, much quicker than using other methods.
Nicola Smith, communications manager employee benefits at Swiss Life, said: 'We are enabling advisers to go onto the Swiss Life website and work on a quote that they have already received from us.'
She gave the example of an adviser requesting a quote for group income protection benefits for a client. For example, if they had 80% of employees covered at 75% of salary, and this was too high a premium, then the IFA could change this to 60% of employees at 50% salary.
The system would come up with a new price for the quote as long as the client's changes continue to meet all criteria. Once the client is happy with the quote the IFA can go on risk online.
Smith added: 'The benefit to the client is that getting a requote and putting something on risk can sometimes take a matter of days on the phone, fax or email. This process takes place at the touch of a button at the intermediary's own convenience, and can also be done while they are physically with the client.'
