Two-thirds of intermediaries think IFA firm LifeSearch's decision to team up with Asda to sell protection will make consumers more aware of the need for advice, COVER's latest web poll unveiled.

According to the online survey, 63.6% of respondents believed the protection specialist's move would help raise awareness among consumers about the importance of advice.

Last month, Prudential published research that suggested £43.9bn of insurance claims made in the UK had been turned down over the past five years. This caused uproar in the industry with experts arguing that Prudential had further tarnished the industry's reputation - see above.

This month's online poll asks whether you think Pru's move has damaged the industry? To cast your vote go to www.covermagazine.co.uk.
