Royal Liver has announced a relaunch of its income protection offering early in 2009.
Aidan Dewhurst, IFA marketing manager at the provider, said next year would be "challenging" overall but the company had a raft of new initiatives that would put it in a strong position.
Dewhurst said that the insurer had no details of the IP offering that could yet be released but said they would be finalised and publicised soon.
He said: "We are already in the market but we've looked at the product to make sure it's competitive in features and benefits. Once we get that right, we're confident that our whole menu product will be in good shape."
He also added that 2008 had been a good year for progress as the product had hit all its sales targets, despite the adverse financial climate.
He added: "The launch of our new critical illness cover was a great help - it appears to have been well-received by customers and IFAs and we've noted a significant increase in sales volumes."
