Bupa has agreed a partnership with China-based insurer Alltrust for its international private medical insurance (IPMI) policyholders.

Alltrust will offer a range of health insurance products for expatriates working in China and Chinese citizens that want an international medical insurance plan, which will be administered by Bupa International.

The UK-based provider will offer support such as finding the closest hospital and making appointments for clients.

Alistair How, managing director of Bupa International, said it was an exciting opportunity for both companies.

"We are pleased to be working with such a well-established and respected company in China and look forward to a long and successful relationship, delivering the best possible health insurance for customers," he said.

Henry Du, chairman of Alltrust, added: "Our partnership concludes a rigorous search for the right partner - Bupa operates in 190 countries around the world, and has a wealth of experience, which will be great assets to us as we look to continue to grow in China."

The deal will formally start on 27th January.
