CIGNA HealthCare has developed a health insurance plan to meet the needs of employers in the Channel Islands.
Designed in conjunction with insurance brokers IHC and Rossborough Healthcare International, the plan will cover Channel Island employees and includes benefits such as airfare costs to the UK mainland when specialist treatment is required.
James Kenrick, sales director at CIGNA HealthCare, said: "Employers recruiting staff to the islands want to be sure they retain them and that they have access to high quality, effective healthcare cover is a key factor in that process.
"By applying managed care we have developed a plan which will help them provide first-rate healthcare cover that meets healthcare expenses on the islands and manages costs at the same time."
CIGNA's managed care system is normally only available to large companies. However, the new product is available to companies with three or more staff.
Guy Jones, managing director of Rossborough Healthcare, said: "We are pleased to be working with CIGNA on this plan. PMI cover from mainland UK only covers about 80% of Channel Islanders' needs. This matches their needs more closely."
He believes there is a large market on the islands since some 35%-40% of the population have private medical insurance.
