The Money Advice Service has announced that it is supporting the Seven Families campaign.

The Seven Families campaign is designed to raise the profile of income protection and was launched in May 2014.

The project has been funded by 17 companies involved in the income protection market. The Money Advice Service includes income protection among the products it offers advice on.

Caroline Rookes, chief executive of the Money Advice Service, said: "The Money Advice Service aims to change people's lives by helping them manage their money better. We are delighted to support this campaign which raises public awareness of the financial impact of being unable to work due to long term illness or disability.

"The project is focused on bringing to life what really happens financially when people cannot work, and demonstrates how income protection cover can make a huge difference to people's lives when they really need it."

Peter Le Beau, chairman of the Income Protection Task Force, said: "To have MAS on board is fantastic news. Their online content for protection insurance is excellent and we are looking forward to taking the project forward. We've been busy working on a number of areas in the build up to launch, in particular the legal aspects, branding and communications. There will be a range of online and social media activity which is almost ready."
