Bupa launches entry-level PMI

Bupa UK has launched an entry-level insurance product, Bupa Fundamental Health Insurance, to meet the demand for affordable Private Medical Insurance (PMI).

The product will be available through selected intermediaries from this week, and rolled out to others in the coming weeks.

Switch terms will be available to customers on existing personal schemes with their existing underwriting and exclusions.

The switch terms will also be available for employees leaving group corporate schemes from competitors.

Full cancer cover will be provided, along with in and day patient treatments and outpatient benefits including cover for out-patient surgery, diagnostic scans and tests, two consultations and

Cover will be provided for £350 physical therapy following in or day patient treatments.

Half of 32-55 year olds thought they couldn't afford healthcare while 37% would be more likely to have it if it was affordable, research by Bupa found. 

Richard Norris, a director at Bupa UK said: "We know that cost is one of the main barriers that stops people using private healthcare, which is why we are committed to developing new products and services that suit a variety of budgets, making quality healthcare more affordable and accessible to more people.
