Cuna and Golden Charter introduce index linked funeral plan

Cuna Mutual has agreed a partnership with Golden Charter to provide index linked funeral plans.

The cover allows for the indexation of the policy in line with rising funeral costs, ensuring that all funeral director costs are guaranteed, regardless of the effect of future inflation.

Golden Charter has a network of over 2,700 funeral directors throughout the UK and the deal follows on from recent partnerships with the Co-operative and LV=.

The new programme encourages consumers to consider funding funeral costs in advance and on monthly basis to avoid rising bills of up to £6,000.

Paul Walsh, CEO of Cuna Mutual Group, said: "As families have been financially squeezed in recent years, it has become even more apparent that millions of UK consumers do not have adequate financial provision to protect themselves against life events, such as a loved one's funeral."

Ronnie Wayte, managing director of Golden Charter, added that it wanted its member funeral directors to encourage families to consider funeral costs in advance so they are not left financially exposed.
