Aegon Scottish Equitable has struck a deal with MorganAsh to add tele-underwriting to its protection offerings. Following a pilot scheme in September 2007, the insurer decided to bring 'little t' underwriting onboard so applicants will be interviewed over the telephone by a trained nurse if a disclosure is captured at application stage. Andrew Gething, managing director of MorganAsh, said tele-underwriting collected better information than doctors' reports and drastically reduced the time it took to turn around applications with tele-interviews meaning clients could be underwritten in as little as six days.
