'Back to work' Green paper sets out new measures
Work and Pensions Secretary Andrew Smith has launched a Green paper setting out new measures to help people with an illness or disability off benefits and back to work. It is hoped individual 'back to work' support packages and 'joined up' rehabilitation schemes will break down the barriers preventing people claiming Incapacity Benefit from working. Smith said: 'No longer must we treat people on Incapacity Benefit as if their working life has come to an end.'
Immediate cover facility extended by Skandia
Skandia has extended the immediate cover facility on its Skandia Protect whole of life cover. Clients planning for Inheritance Tax by taking out life cover under trust can get immediate cover while the provider underwrites the case. The facility is available to people under 65 who want cover of between £250,000 and £2m.
Unum chairman takes up Zurich FS CEO role
Laurence Churchill is to step down as chairman and managing director of UnumProvident and become chief executive of Zurich Financial Services' UK, Irish and international life business. Susan Ring, previously Unum's operations director, will take over his role.
