Swiss Life is offering the RED ARC care planning and advisory service to its individual critical illness (CI) policyholders. The service has been offered, to group policyholders, since April 2000. The full service will become available once a claim has been made and is applicable to both new and existing clients.
In addition to a 24-hour helpline, the service comprises a free medical home visit, the production of a care plan that prioritises the appropriate treatment and tailors recommendations on courses of action that may be taken by claimants. The service is designed to enhance the services offered by the NHS.
Commenting on the service, Rosalind Pearson, research and planning manager at Swiss Life, said: 'We are always looking at ways to add value to our range of protection products. The introduction of the RED ARC service offers a holistic approach to protection provision and provides Swiss Life customers with more than a cheque.'
Swiss Life is also introducing a number of changes to its CI plans which will apply to new customers only. Seven new conditions have been added: AIDS through assault, aplastic anaemia, bacterial meningitis, cardiomyopathy, liver failure, severe lung disease and progressive supranuclear palsy.
Children's benefits have also been improved to maximum pay out of £25,000 or 25%, whichever is less with a 30-day age limit, down from six months. Finally, angioplasty has been redefined to 50% narrowing of the arteries, down from 75%.
