Imminent findings from government commissioned research and reviews into the rise of the gig workforce might lead to a new category of worker, if current indications are correct. Could this bring with it employee benefit entitlements too? Suzanne Clarkson investigates

Recent reports in the national and trade press predict that the Taylor Review into modern working practices, due to be published this month [June], will not only make the definition of self-employed more strict but will also argue for more benefits for contractors.
