A. New BUPA Work Assured should go straight to the top of your wish list. BUPA, the leading name in private healthcare has identified a gap in the business paid employee benefit and business protection market, and has developed a proposition for companies with 10 employees or more.

Launching BUPA Work Assured

You can now offer your clients a new way of helping to protect their businesses from the costs of long-term sickness absence and provide them with a valuable staff retention tool which requires no medical underwriting.

A unique combination of features and benefits for your clients:

Income protection

• Financial support following a 13-week deferred period for a total period of 24 months, providing a monthly payment equivalent to the lower of up to £7,500 per annum or 75% (the amount paid will be reduced by the long-term single persons State Incapacity Benefit) of the individual employee's salary. There is also an option to cover some of the employer pension contributions.

Critical illness cover

• A tax free (under current legislation), £15,000 lump sum payment providing protection against specified serious medical conditions and operations with an option for employers to retain 25% of the lump sum to help cover the indirect costs of a member of staff being absent

Cash payments benefit

A cash payment, the equivalent of 100% of the cost incurred by an employee at times of ill health for:

• Private consultations ' up to £200 per annum.

A cash payment, the equivalent of 50% of the costs incurred by an employee at times of ill health for:

• Physiotherapy ' up to £150 per annum.

Will be reimbursed through these provisions.

A cash payment at times of ill health for:

• Nights spent as an in-patient in hospital ' £70 per night.

• Day-case treatment ' £70 per day.

• Recuperation (after a hospital stay of 10 nights or more ' £200

All benefits are subject to maximum annual payment limits.

Financial support for employees could help get quicker consultations or physiotherapy and, in some cases, may speed diagnosis and recovery, minimising the employer's reliance on temporary staffing.

Occupational health information line

• Provides employers with support, guidance and easy-to-understand information available by email, fax or post on a range of occupational health issues such as absence management, alcohol and drugs and health and safety

Healthline

• A free and confidential telephone consultation service provided by nurses on call, 24-hours a day, 365-days-a-year. So, whatever health concerns employees may have, help is just a phone call away.
