Norwich Union Healthcare (NUH) is rolling out its online Personal Health Manager (PHM) to corporate private medical insurance (PMI) clients, writes Angela Faherty.
Access to the health and wellbeing website is a standard feature on the provider's individual plans, and will be rolled out across its Solutions and Optimum corporate schemes from 1 May. The provider hopes to have the service in place across its entire corporate portfolio by the third quarter this year.
Commenting on the decision to expand the interactive service across its product range, NUH's communications manager, Nicole Hockley, said changes in consumer demand coupled with the success of the service had encouraged the expansion.
'PHM is the first step in a major programme that will see us moving more towards health maintenance, rather than simply being a health insurer. We hope to enable companies to empower their employees by encouraging health maintenance,' she said.
Hockley said the provider was looking at ways it could develop the facility with add- itional services such as health screens and information about complimentary healthcare ser- vices. There are also plans to extend its corporate stress helpline to its individual portfolio.
'We hope to roll the stress helpline out to the individual sector by the third quarter this year,' she said. 'We are looking to inter-link the service with PHM ' the aim is for PHM to eventually become an umbrella service offering a wide range of components.'
Standard Life Healthcare (SLH) has also revealed it is to pilot its self-pay proposition ' Treatment Information Services ' to its fully insured customers. The service currently provides information about hospitals, consultants and treatment costs to consumers holding SLH's self-pay Choices policy. Details are not finalised, but the provider is hoping to roll out the service in June and July this year.
