Norwich Union Healthcare has introduced a bereavement helpline for the relatives of its group life product customers.
The phoneline, which will be available 24 hours a day, will also be available to customers who have suffered bereavement themselves.
Pam Stephens, head of group risk at the provider, said: "The death of a loved one can be extremely difficult to cope with and we are committed to helping our Group Life customers' relative in their time of need. The introduction of the bereavement helpline means that we can now support their families not just financially through prompt settlement of their claim, but also emotionally."
The helpline is offered in conjunction with PPC Worldwide, a provider of employee assistant programmes, and is staffed by qualified bereavement counsellors who will be able to offer emotional and practical support. One of the issues that the counsellors will be able to provide support on, Norwich Union Healthcare said, were the processes around probate.
