Govt. introduces online probate application service

People dealing with bereavement can now apply, pay and swear a statement of truth for probate online, the HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS) has announced. Part of a £1bn programme of court reform, the expanded service, which has already been trialled ‘by invitation' to a rate of 93% satisfaction, will mean that people will no longer need to visit a probate registry or require a solicitor when appying for probate.
