Woman suing hospital could trigger 'duty of care' rights for relatives

A case involving a woman who is suing doctors, because they failed to tell her about father's Huntington's disease before the birth of her child, could impact the future of patient confidentiality, The Guardian has reported. The lawyers of the woman, who said she would have aborted her unborn child had she known about the diagnosis, are bringing the case against St George's Hospital after doctors asked her father to disclose the condition to his daughter however he refused to do so.
