Aviva pays 97.2% protection claims in 2017

£900m goes to protection customers

Aviva has confirmed that it paid more claims than ever in 2017, with a total of £900m worth of claims settled for 25,000 customers (97.2%) - an increase from 23,000 and £30m more than last year's figure. £525m was paid to families of customers who had died or to individuals diagnosed with a terminal illness, while £337m worth of claims went to customers diagnosed with critical illness. More than £38m of benefits were paid to customers with income protection cover or fracture claim benefits.
