L&G offers free life cover to new parents

Legal & General (L&G) has announced it will offer £10,000 worth of free life cover to new parents.

New Mums and Dads aged between 18-45 years of age are eligible to apply for the cover if they are a UK resident and are named on their child's birth certificate, full adoption certificate or if they have a final residence or a special guardianship order.

Parents can apply from the time of their child's birth right up to and including their first birthday if they have not taken out a life insurance policy with L&G in the last five years.

The cover will last 12 months from the date the policy begins, the insurer added.

John Hyde, managing director at L&G Insurance said; "Becoming a parent can be a daunting and busy time. There is so much to consider and prepare for and it is understandable that many new Mums and Dads feel they don't have second to spare. A new arrival undoubtedly brings joy, but the responsibility can also prompt many of us to think about how our family would be cared for were something to happen to us.

"Having one less thing to worry about is a source of great reassurance to many of our customers, especially in the crucial first few months of a new arrival."
