Standard Life Healthcare offers cut rates if clients are treated by Bupa or Capio
Standard Life Healthcare has introduced a new healthcare option, which it claims could save customers up to 15% on their policies without having to make any benefit cuts.
Guided Option allows policy-holders to cut their costs by using designated Bupa or Capio hospitals, meaning the hospital makes all arrangements, including choosing a consultant.
According to the insurer, this allows them to make better use of their resources, enabling them to reduce charges – a saving that can then be passed onto customers.
The option, available to group and individual customers, can be applied to most of the provider's policies and is offered through 47 Bupa and Capio hospitals in the UK, currently excluding London.
Mike Hall, chief executive at Standard Life Healthcare, said: "We believe this offering coupled with another 15% discount is a powerful proposition that will attract new entrants to the market as well as those looking to switch from their current provider."
Stephen Walker, chairman of the Association of Medical Insurance Intermediaries, commented: "This is a positive move by Standard Life to address the affordability factor and offer more choice without compromising on benefits, making their policies more accessible at a time when medical insurance for many people is more of a necessity than ever before."
The Guided Option will not be available on Choices, Primecare Supersaver, Esprit Health Saver, Health six-week wait plans and Values plans.
