HSA has launched a new healthcare cash plan, which includes a 12-month money back guarantee to encourage individuals and families to try out the benefits of cash plans.

Des Benjamin, chief executive of HSA, said: "We have taken the initiative to help more people to understand and appreciate the benefits of low-cost cash plans. The cash benefits are becoming increasingly important to individuals and families who need help with everyday health costs, against the background of more limited NHS services and what is to many people the prohibitive cost of private medical insurance (PMI)."

The money back offer is open to contributors who make 12 consecutive monthly contributions, but want to terminate cover. Following this period, contributors will be able to claim the net amount of premiums back, less any claims paid or pending, plus a £25 administration charge. Contributors who claim money back under the offer will not be eligible to take out an HSA policy for at least one year.

"We hope that our special offer of money back, if not completely satisfied, will encourage more people to try out a cash plan. This is our confident invitation to 'try it and see', said Benjamin.

The full range of benefits available under the Superplan can be accessed immediately, with the exception of maternity cover, but new members will only be accepted until 30 June 2001.

The benefits available under the plan include help with dentistry costs, optical check-ups and glasses, physiotherapy and a range of complementary medicine treatments. Hospitalisation including admission to accident and emergency wards is also included.
