Video: insurance is not viewed in same light as other professions

The insurance industry needs to "elevate" itself in terms of professionalism, brokers claimed at the recent Broker Expo hosted by COVER's sister title Insurance Age.

Mike Rodgers, head of ProBroker at Marsh Networks, said: "I don't feel that, currently, [insurance] is viewed in the same peer group as solicitors, accountants and other professional advisers."

And Douglas Young, managing director at K Drewe Insurance Brokers, commented: "Many people refer to [insurance] as an industry.

"I think many of the practitioners in insurance would rather regard it as a profession and of value to the public."
