Fiona Murphy urges the insurance industry to take a joined-up view and work together to meet the protection needs of renters.

One of the main takeaways for me from the Protection Review conference in July was how little the industry discussed the protection needs of renters; this was only alluded to briefly during a mortgage panel. But with the rise in people renting much longer and later in life and families with children making up a large proportion of the rental market, the industry must get over the mindset that most of ‘Generation Rent' are in their early to mid-20s with a an eye on the housing ladder or are simply not for them to approach.
