With the protection industry turning the page on a new year, advisers shared their views with Jaskeet Briah, deputy editor, COVER, on what lies in store for the sector in 2026.

As we rounded out 2025, advisers touched upon underwriting challenges they experienced throughout the year, which do appear to be going anywhere in 2026, particularly when it comes to turnaround times. Nathaniel Lee, managing director, Business Protected, says most of the firm's clients need faster turnaround times for manual underwriting, due to premium size and/or medical disclosures. "We have had to avoid certain providers at different points of the year because of this," Lee says.
