Claims increase 15% for workplace health policies: ABI

Claims have increased by 15% for workplace health policies, with one million claims made in 2022 compared to 873,000 in 2021, according to the Association of British Insurers (ABI).

A record 4.4 million people are now covered by health insurance through their employer, which is up by 8% from four million in 2021. The total number of people covered by both individual and workplace health insurance policies increased by 7% to 5.8 million in 2022, which the ABI detailed is the highest number it has seen since 2008. Pay outs for health insurance claims also hit a record high at nearly £3 billion.
