On the final day of Income Protection Awareness Week 2023, Will Meredew, senior policy adviser in the Association of British Insurers’ (ABI) Health and Protection team, discussed the use of value-added benefits throughout the insurance industry.

Recent research by the association found that the insurance sector supported nine in 10 people to either stay in or return to work through vocational rehabilitation (VR), with over 50% of these cases related to mental health. Looking at over 50s, Meredew stated that there is a "massive problem" with this age group in the workforce post-pandemic, partially due to early retirement and ill-health.
