NHS to trial gym and grocery discounts for the public

An NHS scheme is considering introducing rewards and discounts for members of the public who meet weekly exercise targets.

As part of the Healthy New Towns programme, members of the public living in these developments would receive discounts on grocery shopping, gym memberships, sports clothes and free cinema tickets - mirroring rewards for policyholiders from the health insurer Vitality. The NHS would reward those who hit step counts, which would be measured through wearables or an app.   The Daily Telegraph reported that NHS officials are understood to have studied health insurance schemes where customers are rewarded with 25% off their weekly shop through Vitality's deal with Ocado.  The head of NHS...
