The Exeter pays 94% of income protection claims

The Exeter has revealed that it paid 94% of all income protection claims received during 2016 as it published claimant case studies alongside claims data for the first time.

Of the 6% of claims that were declined, 4% were for non-disclosure and 2% were due to the claimant still being able to work in their own occupation. Once again the highest number of claims were made as a result of injuries and accidents - accounting for 37% of all those received. The insurer has also produced an infographic, discussing the claims in more depth and adding claims cases studies, which tells a few of the stories behind the numbers.
