Unum launches employer cancer toolkit

clock

Unum has launched an online employer toolkit to help support employers dealing with cancer in the workplace.

The move follows October's research Maggie's Centres and Unum, which found that many employers aren't providing the right support for staff with cancer.

The conclusion the research led to was that often employers aren't providing the right support for staff with cancer because they are worried they may do or say the wrong thing and, as a result, don't communicate effectively with employees about their needs and circumstances.

To help address this situation, Unum's new employer toolkit includes:

• Videos of content from Maggie's and Unum's Cancer in the Workplace workshops
• Video answers to some frequently asked questions from employers and HR practitioners
• Downloads on addressing concerns before, during and after a return to work, and providing guidance on putting together a graduated return to work plan

The toolkit can be downloaded from the Unum web site.
