Bupa paid out in 91.5% of critical illness claims received during the first half of 2010, the company has revealed.

The highest claim paid to date was £1,000,000. Cancer claims continued to be the highest percentage paid, accounting for 59% of all claims.

Less than one percent of critical illness claims received during the first half of 2010 were declined due to non-disclosure and less than 8% were turned down because they did not meet the policy definition.

Steve Casey, Head of Sales and Marketing at Bupa Individual Protection comments: "It's important that customers can be confident that when they come to claim, the process will be as simple and easy as possible, at what is often a difficult time for them. It is reassuring for them to know that the vast majority of claims will be paid."
