More than two thirds of IFAs do not think political organisations should be able to sell protection products, according to the latest COVER poll.
Following the British National Party's controversial launch of its financial services arm, Albion Life, a total of 72.7% of intermediaries who voted online objected to the idea that political parties should be allowed to sell such products.
Only 27.3% of IFAs who participated disagreed with the sentiment in the COVER poll.
Following the Financial Services Authority's (FSA) latest review of the payment protection insurance (PPI) sector, published in October, this month's COVER poll asks whether new rules are required in the area of PPI sales. The FSA plans to publish a report on this wider review in Q1 2007.
