Bupa UK has appointed Catherine Barton as finance and commercial director.
In her new role Barton will lead Bupa's UK Finance, Legal, Risk and Actuarial teams and will be a member of both the Bupa UK Executive Team and the Finance and Governance Executive Team.
Barton joins from Ernst & Young LLP where she is currently a Partner, leading the company's Insurance Data and Analytic Solutions team and Ernst & Young's team delivering actuarial services to the UK and European retail markets.
Barton is a qualified actuary with extensive experience across the UK insurance markets.
She has advised many companies on key issues including Solvency II, transactions, business change programmes and regulatory investigations.

Barton will join Bupa UK later this year. Before joining Ernst & Young Catherine worked at Deloitte becoming a Partner at the company in 2005, and prior to this worked at the actuarial firm, Bacon & Woodrow.
